☎️ Abbreviated Dialing

Part of the UsVox System Administration Web Interface Manual

Created by the UsVox Support Team

📌 Purpose

The Abbreviated Dialing feature allows you to set up short dial codes for external phone numbers. This makes it easy for users to quickly call frequently used numbers without dialing the full number each time.

How to Add an Abbreviated Dialing Number

1️⃣ Go to the Abbreviated Dialing Section

  • Log in to your Customer Self-Care Interface.
  • Navigate to IP Centrex > Abbreviated Dialing.

2️⃣ Click the ➕ Add Button

  • Find and click the Add icon at the top of your Abbreviated Dialing list.

3️⃣ Enter the Required Information

Field Description
Abbreviated # The short code the user will dial on their phone (acts like a speed dial or extension number).
# to Dial

The full external number to forward the call to. You can enter the ID of one of your accounts or any external number in E.164 format (e.g. 17862755888).

🔑 Note: If you leave this blank, the abbreviated number is used as-is. This is useful for ensuring that certain numbers (like emergency codes 112) are dialed exactly as entered, without translation.

Description Add a short note to identify this dial code (e.g. “UsVox Support”).

4️⃣ Save Your Changes

  • After entering the details, click Update to add the abbreviated number to your list.

Example

Abbreviated # # to Dial Description
222 17862755888 UsVox Support

When a user dials 222, the system forwards the call to 17862755888.

Why Use Abbreviated Dialing?

  • Saves time for frequent external calls.
  • Reduces dialing errors.
  • Allows easy access to support numbers, branch offices, or mobile contacts.
